The Academy

ARCI Liguria A.P.S. is the regional committee of ARCI in Liguria, North-West Italy. It is the biggest independent association for promoting culture, social values and civil rights in the country and, with its over 300 clubs and more than 50.000 card holders it represents a network whose well-grounded structure enhances democratic participation and social integration locally. Since 1977 ARCI’s mutualistic associations, non-profit organizations, art galleries, volunteering groups and clubs promote culture and sociability in the region. 

ARCI’s activities include defence of the rights of migrants (legal assistance, work and education orientation and welcoming systems), promotion of a culture against crime organisations and initiatives, delivery of non-formal education activities to children at school and in suburban districts and also to inmates, enhancement of civic participation and volunteering as a self-developing and active-citizenship instrument for the youth, recreational activities. 

Considering its broad experience in European projects, both as a leading and partner organisation, ARCI Liguria is in charge of the management of Communications of ECMA. 

ISSU, the Irish Second-Level Students’ Union represents second-level students on a national level in the Republic of Ireland. The ISSU currently has 370 member student councils, representing approximately 150,000 students. The ISSU is a member of the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI), Children’s Rights Alliance (CRA) and has a fruitful relationship with the teacher unions ASTI and TUI, Union of Students in Ireland (USI) and the Department of Education & Skills, who give impartial funding to the organisation. The organisation currently has 2 staff members. 

The ISSU offers free student council training for all member schools, and organises its 11 regional councils in the autumn. The highest decision-making body, Congress, takes place in spring, where officers of the National Student Executive (NSE) are elected. The NSE each hold different portfolios (e.g. President, Welfare, International) and run their own projects and events on both a local and national level throughout the year.

AEGEE-Budapest, locally called Európai Hallgatók Hálózatának Egyesülete (EHHE), is an independent non-profit international youth organization, established in 2004 in Budapest, Hungary.

EHHE is one of the most populated student associations in the capital, providing exchanges, thematic trainings, conferences, summer universities and countless types of events for its members. Through such activities, the association creates a space for dialogue and learning opportunities aiming  to empower students and young people in Europe and make them take an active role in society. EHHE acts as a representative of youngsters  towards decision makers.

EHHE aka AEGEE-Budapest is a member organization of AEGEE Europe with democratic, elections held every semester.

AEGEE-Bamberg, as one of the locals of the AEGEE network, works locally together with the DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service, in organizing activities and events with local Erasmus students. 

By organizing local trainings and discussions with members of the local organization and of international ones, AEGEE Bamberg helps students both improve the self-awareness they have of their current role in society and reflect on the impact they can make. 

AEGEE-Bamberg also cooperates with the local university and other student organizations by implementing projects open for everyone, always fostering the aim to empower young people and lead them to take an active role in the society.  By creating spaces for dialogue and learning opportunities. By doing that, Europe gets closer to young people and  the  its bond with them strengthens.

AEGEE-Zagreb (Udruga studenata Europe) was founded 26 years ago. Since then, the association has organized numerous international activities, including network meetings, conferences, exchanges, summer universities and other events. Today it has more than 80 members who are active both at the local and at the European level. 

In 2017 AEGEE-Zagreb organized a European Planning Meeting with the topic ‘’Europe under Siege – Populism and Anti-European Agitation’’ which tackled the problems of raising populism amongst the youth in the EU.

 AEGEE Zagreb believes in raising awareness about the importance of sharing ideas and opinions, strengthening mutual understanding among young Europeans and bringing Europe closer to youth. 

Zagreb Aegeeans strive for a democratic, diverse and borderless Europe. Following the ideas of the AEGEE Network, they create a space for dialogue and learning opportunities acting as their very own representatives towards decision makers.

AEGEE-Tartu is an antenna of AEGEE-Europe, organising events in Tartu, Estonia every week. High value, in fact, is given both to social activities and time spent together among  young people and international projects that take place around Europe all year round. Every AEGEE member is free to apply for such projects immediately after joining the antenna.

The topics of activities and events include European cultures, personal development or anything that is relevant. A central idea is that of a borderless Europe. For this reason, AEGEE works on two levels : local and European and there is no national level.

AEGEE gives youngsters the opportunity to meet many interesting people from other countries, develop themselves through non-formal education, take part in thematic projects and discuss current topics together with other youngsters. AEGEE-Tartu’s events are organised by and for young people which makes the whole AEGEE experience even more local and powerful.
